Privacy Policy with no Third Party Sharing
No mobile information will be shared by third parties with us or by us with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with us or by us with any third parties. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
FULL PRIVACY POLICY
Mayor La Costa 2026
Effective Date: 6/2/26
Mayor La Costa 2026 (the “Committee,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through [WEBSITE URL] (the “Site”) and our communications, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site or providing your information, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide to us. We collect information you give us directly, including:
- Name, email address, mailing address, and phone number
- Information you provide when you sign up for updates, volunteer, attend or RSVP to events, or contact us
- Donation information, including amounts and payment details processed through our donation processor, and the employer/occupation information required by campaign-finance law
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we may automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, and the dates and times of your visits, through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 5).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Communicate with you about the campaign, including updates, events, volunteer opportunities, and fundraising
- Process and acknowledge contributions
- Comply with campaign-finance reporting and other legal obligations
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Site
- Conduct outreach, get-out-the-vote, and supporter-engagement activities
3. How We Share Information
We share information only as described in this Policy:
- Service providers and vendors. We share information with vendors who help us operate the campaign — such as our email and communications platforms, donation processor, hosting providers, and analytics services — and who are authorized to use it only to provide services to us.
- Legal and compliance requirements. We disclose contributor information as required by applicable campaign-finance law (including required public reporting of certain donor information) and may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, or to protect our legal rights.
- With your direction. We share information when you ask us to or otherwise consent.
Mobile/text-messaging data. See the separate section below titled [SMS / Text Messaging Terms] for our commitments regarding mobile opt-in and consent data. Nothing in this Section 3 overrides those commitments: mobile information and text-messaging opt-in and consent data are handled solely as stated in that section.
NOTE TO DRAFTER: The carrier-required SMS no-sharing paragraph you are placing in its own section below GOVERNS for mobile/text data. Do not add any general “we may share with partners/affiliates for marketing” language that would contradict it. This Section 3 is intentionally written to be consistent with the SMS section — keep it that way.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. [SMS / TEXT MESSAGING TERMS — INSERT YOUR SEPARATE SECTION HERE]
PLACEHOLDER: Your separate SMS section (containing the carrier-required no-third-party-sharing language) goes here. To be fully carrier-compliant, confirm that section also includes: the program/campaign name, that recurring/automated messages may be sent, message frequency (“message frequency varies” or a stated cadence), that message and data rates may apply, opt-out instructions (reply STOP), help instructions (reply HELP), and a link to your Terms & Conditions. The no-sharing paragraph alone satisfies the sharing disclosure, but carriers also look for these other elements.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember your preferences, measure traffic, and understand how visitors use the Site. We may also use analytics and advertising tools (for example, [Google Analytics, Meta/Facebook Pixel — list those you actually use]) that may collect information about your activity to help us measure and target our outreach. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect how the Site functions.
6. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we collect. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy and to comply with our legal obligations, including campaign-finance recordkeeping requirements, after which we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
8. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
9. Your Choices and Rights
- Email. You may unsubscribe from campaign emails at any time using the link in any email.
- Text messages. See the SMS section for opt-out instructions (reply STOP).
- Access, correction, and deletion. You may request to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by contacting us using the information below.
State privacy rights. Depending on your state of residence, you may have additional rights regarding your personal information. For example, California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), including the right to know, delete, and correct personal information and to opt out of certain sharing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 11. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Effective Date above. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
